These heavily mediated experimental paintings reprocess Chinese imitations of European Impressionist paintings into a transformed canvas and monoprint by the process of a technique discovered and pioneered by the artist. Idea, process and aesthetic formalism play heavy roles in Joachim’s creative process as do re-contextualizing or re-purposing found images relating the art to appropriation art, pop art, process art and conceptual art.
These print/paintings are a sample of the series that were made using appropriated still-life paintings.
This sample of images represents the portion of the series that was created using both appropriated abstract paintings as well as abstract paintings painted by Joachim West.
This series of appropriation print-paintings are a perfect representation of the nature of our contemporary global consumerist mass production culture.
