Art President was a project inspired by a quote from Christina Rees written in an article that addressed Thor and Joachim's work in a show at CentralTrak in Dallas titled "Draftsmen of the Apocalypse".
"I couldn’t help but think about how much more trustworthy these artists seem than some of the current crop of young regional abstractionists who are mostly just politicians spinning their burgeoning careers." http://glasstire.com/2014/11/03/draftsmen-of-the-apocalypse/
Art President envisions each artist as as a politician, campaigning for their art.

Art President began with online voting. There was chaos across the social networking plains as voters realized that the results were "funny". No matter who they voted for to win Art President, George W. Bush (painter) always seemed to get the vote. Hanging chads were immediately blamed.

Armed with American flag pins on their suit jackets Thor and Joachim hit the campaign trail, stopping at exhibitions across Dallas and passed out 100 buttons far and wide.
Joachim and Thor then hit the internet with a flood of promotional material advertising for the campaign.
To supplement their growing popularity Joachim and Thor held stump speeches at Ro2 Gallery in Downtown Dallas. Thor shook the audience with a passionate speech about art created from reassembled quotes about art from world superpowers while Joachim West attempted to create an objective system for grading art but was possessed by the ghost of Adolf Hitler who explained that the Nazi party and Third Reich was actually an art project.

Following their successful speeches Joachim and Thor participated in a physical election day at CentralTrak in order to fix the online voting debacle. At the polling place the voting public was asked to fill out convoluted paperwork, push through a crowd of people to get the paper stamped and then push through them again to get back so that they could go into the bathroom to vote whereupon they were given a drunk test. Voters complained that the voting box seemed to grab their vote from their fingers and make a shredding noise but were assured by the polling officials that it was an automated vote counting machine and given "My Vote Counted!" stickers. Special thanks goes to Teresa Megahan and Contre Culture, our polling officials.
